Why see National Symphony Orchestra - Matilda In Concert?
This Is The Story Of A Girl
This spring, the fantastical nineties movie Matilda is on the way to Washington, and will be joined by some very special guests! Director and star Danny Devito will host and narrate the night, with the movie's composer David Newman leading the orchestra through his wondrous score. A perfect evening for the whole family that you won't want to miss.
Matilda is based on Roald Dahl's 1988 novel of the same name. The story has also been adapted into a hugely successful West End musical, which in turn was made into a new movie in 2022, Matilda the Musical.
What's It About?
Neglected by her parents, the precocious Matilda finds comfort in the library, delving deep into books and expanding her already huge knowledge. After several pranks and the discovery of special abilities, she convinces her parents to let her attend the local school, but there she is met by a cruel and tyrannical principal, Miss Trunchbull. Can Matilda change the fate of the school as she did her own life?
