Yo-yo Ma began performing at the tender age of five years old, born into a musical family in Paris, France, and performed for two US presidents when he was just seven years old. His favorite cello to perform on dates from the early 1700s and is worth over $ 2 million.

A night to remember

First half featured Yo Yo Ma, the greatest cellist on earth. The audience was spellbound. Second half John Williams conducted a medley of his compositions. He did TWO encores ending finally with most notable Star Wars themes. The audience’s thunderous applause said it all. At 92 , the maestro still has it. Red Rocks at it's Best with the Best.

Truly a master with a talent beyond most mortal comprehension. This was joy in action. Ma loves the music, the crowd, his cello, and his gift and expresses his joy so unabashedly with his expression. Totally a bucket lister for me. I was in row 9 in front of the right bank of speakers. In my seat sound level was perfect, but I did think a couple of times that just a bit more volume would have brought the acoustics of the amphitheater into play to a higher degree. Yo Yo Ma Bach Cello Suites at Red Rocks

My wildest dream was to someday hear Yo Y Ma play Bach at Red Rocks Amphitheater. I'm from Denver but have lived in Massachusetts for 25 years. For the pieces of this dream to come together at I time when I'd be visiting family in Colorado was magical. The concert was beyond wonderful, awe-inspiring, beautiful. For me it was a spiritual experience. Being at Red Rocks, listening to Bach played by an amazing cellist and an even more amazing human being, is an experience of a lifetime for me!
