NSO Pops joins with British-raised singer, musician, producer and songwriter Devonte Hynes for a contemporary classical concert like no other. The Grammy nominated musician is an understated pioneer who has quietly had a major steering influence on modern popular music, having written, produced or performed with some of the most dominant names in today's music, including A$AP Rocky, Caroline Polachek, Haim, Florence and the Machine and Mariah Carey. Now, with the NSO Pops, Hynes delivers a program of contemporary classical pieces which delve into the identities we explore in the 21st century.
Aside from his work with other artists, Hynes has maintained a steady output of solo work since 2004 under the guises of Blood Orange and previously Lightspeed Champion, as well as his early breakout band Test Icicles. In 2018 he performed alongside Philip Glass and not long after received a Grammy nomination for his 2020 work with the percussion ensemble Third Coast Percussion.
