Bye Bye Birdie Announces Christian Borle, Krysta Rodriguez & Ephraim Sykes as Leading Roles
The Elvis Themed Musical Hits DC This June
Broadway stars Krysta Rodriguez, Christian Borle, and Ephraim Sykes have been announced as the leads in the upcoming Washington DC production of Bye Bye Birdie. The Marc Bruni-directed revival of the 1960s classic will be playing at the Eisenhower Theatre this June.
Bye Bye Birdie is inspired by the true story of Elvis Presley being drafted into the army in 1957. The musical tells the story of rock and roll singer, Conrad Birdie (Ephraim Sykes) who is being drafted to war. With the help of music executive Albert Peterson (Christian Borle), Conrad wants to say goodbye to his fans with a final song, and a special kiss for one lucky girl, Rosie Alvarez (Krysta Rodriguez)
Artistic Director Jeffrey Finn released the following statement:
"After a four-year postponement from March 2020, what a thrill it is to finally be producing the joyous Bye Bye Birdie for Broadway Center Stage! With Marc Bruni and Denis Joneswho did such great work with our Guys and Dolls in 2022alongside this starry Broadway cast, the show could not be in better hands"
The Elvis-inspired musical features music by Charles Strouse, book by Michael Stewart, and lyrics by Lee Adams, and choreography by Denis Jones.
