Why See Mariinsky Ballet - La Bayadere?
Pepita's 200th Anniversary
One of the most celebrated ballet companies in the world, the Mariinsky Ballet's annual engagement in D.C is always eagerly awaited by fans of the classical canon and this year the waiting has paid off as the company bring their rendition of the phantasmal La Bayadere, as created for them over 140 years ago by choreographic master Marcus Pepita.
Glittering and beguiling, La Bayadere is a consumate example of the Romantic ideal in action as eternally pledged love follows the central couple through this life and the next, dreams and tradgedy. Featuring one of classical ballet's most beloved and bewitching excepts that introduces the world of the ghostly maidens, 'The Kingdom of the Shades', this supernatural love story never fails to dazzle and thrill!
Opening night: 17 October 2017
