The Moth

Until June 19, 2017

An American institution, The Moth is devoted to the art of storytelling. A non-profit group, founded in 1997 by George Dawes Green, The Moth holds regular literary events across the country, shows which feature ordinary people and celebrities alone on stage, simply telling a real life story. Since its launch The Moth has added several arms to its empire, including a podcast and a radio show, but nothing can compare to seeing one of these events live.

Grammy Award-winning soulful songstress Lalah Hathaway has music running through her veins. She may be the daughter of legendary singer Donny Hathaway, but Lalah has carved out a name for herself far from the shadow of her father's considerable achievements with a stunning set of vocal pipes and a versatility that has seen her command a range of genres from jazz to gospel to urban contemporary.

The talented Daily Show reporter and first black host of Weekend Update, this up and coming comic has won over critics and audience alike, having been named one of Rolling Stone's 50 Funniest People. Applying street culture and his inner-city upbringing to news issues, his casual and insouciant delivery has been applauded widely. Focusing on issues such as race, he is a fearless comic who notably tackles discrimination by police, once ironiccaly using an outers-space green screen to show where a black man would not be harrassed by law enforcement.

Three founding members of the iconic UB40 are back on the road touring their new unplugged album. Singer Ali Campbell, keyboard player Mickey Virtue and percussionist Astro have been playing together for a couple of years now, and their 2016 record Unplugged found the trio revisiting some of their greatest hits acoustically.

Jackie Mason Poster

March 2, 2018

With a long history of his forefathers becoming rabbis, Jackie Mason was destined for a life in the synagogue before he bucked the trend and became one of the most recognisable and accomplished borscht belt comedians of the 60s and 70s. With the ability to deftly combine a self-deprecating humour with a playful arrogance, his acerbic wit explored every topical subject from his own religion to American Culture.
